With the searching I have done, many people point to Glue Tools @ $400 as the best way to process .cine files from the Phantom cameras into FCP. I’m not opposed to that purchase, just wondering if there are any better or free alternatives. I’ve contacted Vision Research who has a PCC software download that claims to transcode the .cine files to Quicktime on a Windows PC platform only, but they won’t respond to me and the download requires a serial number which leads me to believe it may only be for owners of one of their cameras.
I appreciate any input on people’s workflows out there for Phantom footage and if Glue Tools is the way to go with FCP.

Well, we played back from the Phantom onto a P2 Mobil…recording the footage at 1080i29.97 AVCintra. Then brought that into FCP or Avid. Personally, I like that…

So this is interesting, and somewhat related to this thread. I’m working on a short project where the producers have hired a Phantom operator to shoot some 1000fps material. The footage looks great, except for one problem. There’s an issue with anything reflecting alot of light in that it doesn’t just reflect it, it colors it with pinks and teals.Normally I’d expect these objects to bounce back white/ blown out detail. I spoke to the operator, and he suggested using a gaussian blur of 1 or 2. He also suggested desaturating the image. I’ve tried these things, and it didn’t help too much.

    Any ideas? Thanks!
