FCP Performance issue
Hey guys, I’m having a issue with FCP and hope that maybe someone can help. I have a Dual Quad Core 2.26 Intel Mac with 16 gigs of RAM running FCP 7.0.3 with a Blackmagic DeckLink Studio card for monitoring. My issue started about a month or so ago, so I am wondering if perhaps there has been an update that may have caused this. What happens is that anytime I try to copy files or render After Effects in the background, it causes FCP to hang up and sometime crash when I try to do something as simple as just play video in the timeline. I never experienced anything like this in the past. It always seemed to be able to handle all of the processing just fine before. It is KILLING my productivity. I work at a TV station and often need to transfer files in the background while I am working. Any thoughts or suggestions? Anyone else dealing with anything like this? Thanks for your help.

Could be any number of things:
I’d begin by looking at the following…
1) are hard drives too full
2) permissions on system drive need to be fixed with Disk Utility
3) trash preferences
4) run Disk Warrior on all drives
