  • FCP not seeing full storage capacity on server

2 of the 3 edits suites only recognize 1.5TB on a 10TB server. When we first had our (This particular brand server was recommended for FCP…it’s not an xserve/xraid) server delivered my FCP could see 10TB. Then it just decided to only see 1.5TB.

We’ve been told that if FCP crashes during capture that he could have left a giant ghost file taking up most of the space. However, the avid recognizes the full 10TB. And just to add spice to the mix, our 2 leopard laptops also see 10TB.

Nothing has changed since installing the server. Could it be a 10.4 vs 10.5 vs FCP issue?

Does the Finder on the affected machines see the correct amount of free space? or is this what FCP is reporting as avail?

The finder only sees 1.5TB. I tried using Cache Out X and no luck. I did a fresh install of my OS and apps back in September. I even tried using software that shows invisible files but couldn’t find anything out of the ordinary.

I’m going to try and clone my laptop to an external drive and reboot.

Without telling us what kind of “server” you have also complicates the problem. Maybe there’s a quota flag that got set on the server that only lets those stations access 1.5TB?
