This has got to be the worst week for me as far as editing goes…

My Mac is not recognizing my PD170 or HDR Z1U. Ive trashed prefs in FCP, restarted, disconnected HD’s, repaired disk permissions, and just about everything else I could think of. I was capturing no problem Thursday night without a problem. Nothing has changed. All settings are set to DV/NTSC.

What computer? How’s everything connected? Did you try a different cable?

    All the best,

    Tom

    Hi Christopher,
If you don’t explain what are you trying to do with the camera, is difficult to figure out a solution.
    Are you trying to capture?
To Print to Video or monitor?
    is not a FW issue?

Although I am not sure what you are trying to do, I would have a look at the camera… When I went to download the last video I shot I found that both my PD170 and my PD100 were nolonger recognized by FCP…. as impossible as this seems, it turns out that both the firewire connections/ports on BOTH cameras were blown…. the problem had nothing to do with the MAC or with FCP…. I had to have the motherboard replaced on the PD170, at great expense! It turns out that the connection is a tad more delicate than we have all been led to believe, and you have to make sure the camera is off before you unplug… All works a treat now!

    Good luck…
