    Hi there,

I haven’t worked with Multiclip editing before, and was wondering what the best way is to go about compressing my footage in order to use all cameras.

I used four cameras. Two shot at 1440X1080i, 29.97fps and had an external microphone. The other two were Flip Ultra HD cameras which I used as drum cameras. These shoot at 720p at 30fps.

My question is, should I compress all to Apple ProRes 422 (HQ) at 1080 or 720? Which should be adjusted to the other? I know that it is generally looked down upon to “blow up” footage to larger than its intended size, but I also don’t want to degrade the 1080i footage.

For efficient workflow, transcode all your footage to ProRes LT then edit.

    Steve,

Thanks so much for the reply. A few questions…
    – Will this degrade the quality of my footage noticeably?
    – If I recorded external audio and later used PluralEyes to sync everythIng together, will I have issues?
    – Is there going to be an issue with Multiclip because of the interlaced vs. progressive deal?

    Thanks again.

Do a test from a few short clips.
