    Hi Cows,

FCP is behaving really strangely, a couple of days ago i moved some stuff to my trash to make space.

I noticed the last couple of time i opened fcp everything ive worked on needs re rendering.

I then noticed that there is a render folder in my trash. So I moved this into where i keep my fcp documents, replacing the old render file.

I then cleared my trash, and re opened fcp.

Sure enough, all my footage still needs re rendering and, on checking my trash the render folder has magically re appeared again. i cant seem to get rid of it from my trash. i assume this is why i am having to re render all the time.

can any one help with this?

    thanks,
    Sophie.

FCP will trash render files that the sequence no longer references. But yours is acting different. And when FCP acts like it shouldn’t, it is time to trash preferences…

Shane’s Stock Answer #44: FCP acting weird or unusual. Just not like is normally should

If the program was working fine, and now isn’t, or just isn’t working the way it should, the first things to do are:

    1) Trash your FCP preferences. Download the appropriate version of FCP Rescue at https://www.fcprescue.com and run it.

    2) Open the Disk Utility and Repair Permissions.

    3) Shut down for 10 min. Go for a quick walk around the block and get SOME exercise today. Come back, turn on the computer and see how things are.

    4) (optional) Do the Hokey Pokey and turn your self about. Results may vary.

In addition to what Shane said, you aren’t supposed to manually delete render files and directories. FCP has a Render Manager for this very thing.

Thank you all for the comments and help.
Trashing my preferences seems to have fixed it for now.
That and …., (obviously), the hokey pokey. 🙂
