FCP Media Management
Hi,
I’m working on a production of 40 episodes split amongst 4 editshare workspaces on a network. We have media divided over various different locations which is quickly becoming a challenge to manage. The long and the short of it is whether I can find a way to see if media is being used by a particular FCP project?
In the same way that you can track back to a source clip through ‘reveal in finder’ through Final cut. Is there a way, or a piece of software that allows you to track in the opposite direction and see if a piece of media is being referenced by a particular FCP project?

Not that i know of, but that is no guarantee it does not exist 🙂
I do know that Phil and Greg had something that reminds me of this.
Better have a peek at IntelligentAssitant.comHowever, it is fairly simple to make something, if the amount of FCP projects isn’t too big.
If you export each project as XML, the files can be easilly extracted and put in a database.
Unlike Avid, clips in FCP do not carry too much metadata in them.
(that can be done though, as Qt supports lots of metadata, and i suspect the tool from Phil and Greg does something like this…)hth,
