  • FCP losing audio sync after renders

This is beginning to drive me crazy. Here’s the situation.

    Dual 2.5 G5 with 3.5gig of memory. FCP 5.1.2 – the binary cross-grade.

Ever since installing the binary cross-grade the audio in FCP drifts our of sync on playback after a render, especially if i have been bouncing back and forth to Motion. The solution is to close out of FCP and then re-open, but this is a major pain in the a**. I’m using fibre channel arrays and only editing DVCPRO 50, so I doubt it’s drive speed. I’ve re-installed the complete FCP studio and all drivers numerous times, everything up to re-installing the MAC OS. I don’t have this same problem on my Quad Intel Mac. It feels like it’s a memory issue – but then what do I know. does anyone have any ideas.

    Thanks

Make sure your renders aren’t going to your system drive.

The renders are going to the main fibre channel Xraid. Any other thoughts?

The only other thing I can think of is to check your render/rt quality and force full renders everytime (so there’s no real-time happening). Or, when doing a render, go into the render menu and select a full render (I find option-r doesn’t do it, as I would expect it to) and do an audio mixdown.

    Hope this helps…
