    FCP locks up during playback

    Hello all,

    Working with someone on a Mac Pro that was having troubles with the new OSX update. As a result we replaced the system drive, clean installed OSX up to date on version 10.5.6 and reinstalled FCP to version 6.05 and QT is version 7.6.

    Now the problem. Video will not play. Projects open fine and we can scroll around the browser and timeline, but once we hit play….beachball, everything locks up.

    We’ve trashed prefs and restarted… any other options?

    Open the Apple Disk Utility and Fix Permissions on the system drive as well as all other drives. Then report back…
