    Hi,

I just bought a new computer (!) and I need to re-install FCP studio 3. Is there something I need to know? Do I only uninstall it from the old computer et re-install it on the new one ? Some precaution I need to take ? And, I know it’s not the right forum, but is it the same thing with the CS4 bundles ?

    Thanks you very much.

    Max

That’s all you have to do with the Apple pro apps.

I believe the Adobe applications have to be deauthorized, but you should check the Adobe software. I’m sure it’s in their Help menus.

    All the best,

I recently bought a new mac & was able to transfer everything from the old one following prompts. The only thing so far I’ve had to remove & re-install is the silverlight plug-in for watching netflix. You can leave FCP on your old system, the only problem will come if both computers are logged on & using the same program at the same time. There is that color corrector that comes with adobe & requires a separate serial #, which I have not launched on my new pc yet; I can see that needing the serial # entered again…

It is an illegal violation of the EULA to have FCS installed on more than one desktop computer with the same serial number (unless it’s a site license of course).

    All the best,

NEVER migrate ProApps, you will have nothing but trouble down the room. Kyle, don’t you have a thread about poor performance? this maybe the reason.

I am having trouble with FCP, but the Adobe seems OK. Maybe I should reinstall my apps, I’m still thinking I need a bigger computer though… When I got the iMac i7, It just asked me if I wanted to migrate everything & it was so easy & I was fighting the clock, maybe now I am paying the price!?! But I want to render & transcode as fast as I can!

Size of the computer has nothing to do with have fast it is. 🙂

If you migrated you should completely uninstall (use a program called FCS Remover) and then do a fresh install of the app. Migrating m save time when you first start out but you will be paying a heavy price from that moment on.

That sounds like good advice, however I will probably just get a newer, bigger computer, that is also much smarter than my iMac i7.

P.S. I am beginning to get a lay of the land; Network TV is edited on iMacs, Avatar II will be handled by Mac Minis, but behind the curtain will be render farms!
