March 23, 2009 at 10:53 amYou mean the Command and Option keys? What positions are they in relative to the keyboard?
All the best,
Tom

March 23, 2009 at 11:34 amDoes this occur in other applications or only in FCP? I’d get rid of the keyboard.
All the best,
Tom

March 24, 2009 at 3:12 amIryna,
I’ve had this happen on one workstation and it drove me up the wall. Even after “fixing” it, the problem would sometimes return. This was on a 24″ iMac with the aluminum keyboard.
For me, it happened after I set the Mac OS pref’s to use Function keys as standard (not for volume, etc).
Then all my shortcuts stopped working in FCP. Command-Z, Command-C, Control-V, etc, etc.
Here’s the solution I can up with: In FCP, go to the Tools Menu > Keyboard Layout. Select the default keyboard layout. If it’s already selected, select another, then the default. This should restore your shortcuts.

April 8, 2009 at 4:25 pmHi guys, I have a problem with the “command key”. Every time I press the key with another one FCP shuts down. This happens only in FCP, Zooming in. or out, when I copy or past, even when I save any movement I do with this key the program shuts down. Can some on help me please I don’t get where the problem comes from.
Thank you.Have a great day!

November 10, 2009 at 6:25 pmI have the Alum Keyboard, I tried your solution, loaded and unloaded the keyboard, locked and unlocked. It shows in the FCP Keyboard layout F9, F10 and all other functions are loaded, but when I press F9, or F10, or Shift F9 and Shift F10 all I get are sound functions popping up on the screen???

July 30, 2012 at 9:08 pmI’m having a similar strange problem, but it seems to only be the Control+V cutting function. All the other keyboard functions seem to be working OK. And in fact, there are times when Ctrl+V works just fine while editing and then, seemingly for no reason, it just quits working?? I’ve tried restarting FCP, the alternate Control button, choosing default keyboard layout and nothing seems to help it. And then at some point it will come back working for who knows what reason?? I don’t think there’s anything wrong with my keyboard (older Apple Wireless) as the Control+B function still works and the V key works in all other instances. Weirdness??

October 28, 2015 at 1:43 pmhi, to solve these problem you have to do some or totally of the next combinations (and may you try those in different order):
. change language on the top bar to U.S. (the OS X system language)
. open FCP
. open Customize in Tools/Keyboard Layout
. unchain the padlock and Reset the keyboard
. close the window and Save the Keyboard Layout with a custom name
. change language on the top bar to your preferred (the system language)
. change the Keyboard to your custom keyboard saved previously on Tools/Keyboard layout (at the bottom of the pop-up menu)Hope this help, (sorry i’m not an english speaker)

October 29, 2015 at 5:59 amI just bought a new keyboard and I’ve been experiencing the same issue with Command-Z and F10. Amazing timing. I was going to return it.
Edit: And… it didn’t work. Returning.
