Therefore, you can edit natively in Premiere Pro CS5.

What I do not understand is the fact that I have the entire file structure in tact with the card, and I can’t choose the files when I “log and transfer”. I see all of it on the menu, but it is grey and I can’t select. Is this a known problem with FCP and this camera, you said you were able to import, but it was slow. I will get ClipWrap2 if that is my only solution, but I wonder if there is another problem? Would it make a difference if I connected the camera with the card in the camera? I would not think so…
I would rather not have to spend $50 for Clipwrap if I can help it…

I’ll wager that it is because you are using FCP 6. That camera is relatively new, and uses a NEW version of AVCHD (there is no AVCHD standard, unfortunately), and FCP 6 might not understand the file structure. But FCP 7 includes updates that recognizes that card structure.

We had the same problem. While we didn’t find the update for the FCP we recompressed It to DV-PAL .mov with MPEG Streamclip (watch for the pixel aspect ration if you shot in 16:9). And the interlaced look is disappeared.
