I have AVID MXF files that I would like to import into FCP. Any ideas other than spending $400. for the MXF Import program. I tried the Sony EX Transfer software but that wouldn’t do it. I don’t have access to an AVID to export quicktimes.

Well, the ORIGINAL MXF files from an Avid? THe way the Avid captures? Hmm, you can try the Avid QT codecs, available from Avid.com, but since these aren’t QT files but rather the original MXF files, I don’t think that will work.

The only way I know of is the MXF4QT software. That reads MXF files natively including Avid. I have done this myself.

Sorry, gonna have to spend some money, unless you can get someone with an Avid to export these files as QT files and you install the drivers.

    Hi,

You can check out our Calibrated{Q} MXF Import v1.7 – which is being posted tomorrow evening (June 2) – it will have Avid support.

I just spend an hour or so trying to import some Avid MXF files after installing the new Calibrated MXF demo, but I couldn’t get anywhere. I notice that they say they can only open Avid v3.1 mxf files. I guess that’s my problem, some of my mxf files are older. any plans to add broader Avid support?

I just want to finish this thread by commending Greg at Calibrated Software for his terrific service. I was having trouble getting their MXF Import software to work, but Greg was very responsive in helping me find a conflict on my system and now the software works great. Very impressed!
