  • FCP HD XML export – missing FX filters

    Hi all,

I’m just about to online a 60 min sequence. The sequence contains many FX filters (55mm and Magic Bullet), speed changes and transitions.

I need to export the sequence so I can re-import and recapture in 10bit but need all the clips to maintain their filter settings etc.

I have tried to export an EDL, but the re-import does not keep any transitions of FX.

I’ve also tried to export and XML. Although this does keep transitions and speed, it has not (to date) kept any filters.

Can anyone shed some light on the best way to export and import a sequence for onlining purposes, that not only keeps any fx settings, but also gives me a list of offline media clips for recapture.

    Many thanks

    MM

What type of system are you onlining on? If you are onling on an FCP system you dont need to export XML, just use Media Manager to create an offline copy of your sequence in the codec of your choice, then recapture.

Realisticially, there is nothing that does what you want as far as effects if you are moving to a different platform. Automatic Duck does a great job when moving to Avid, but its not a “Total Conform”.

Keep in mind when you recapture your footage, all of your speed effects will be screwed up and you’ll need to re-create all the speed settings.
