    Hi everybody

I’m finishing a 1h30 diaporama (hd pics) edited with prores 422 settings, 1080 progressive.

I’m going to export “same as sequence”, self contained, ok.

But from there, do I have to make a compression in order to have the qt file played on Flat screens from an hdmi disk? Does an hdmi disk (i.e: “la cie lacinema classic”) support such a file? Or do I have to encode to H264 or whatever?

Thanks a bunch, I’m new to HD production.

    Aurelien

Your LaCie LaCinema Classic is just another the many primarily wireless video devices such as Apple TV, Roku, etc. All are limited to highly compressed video such as h.264.

The instruction manual or the LaCie website should clearly indicate the preferred parameters of the highest quality files the device can handle.

BTW, it really should not be referred to as an HDMI disc. HDMI is simply the connection and cable it uses to send audio and video to your TV.

I’m not planning to use a wireless device, but one with an hdmi cable. The lacie was an example, and i think it does work with cable, unless we’re not talking About the same device.

Using a device with an hdmi cable, will that allow me to play the prores file, or am I still limited to h264?

Thanks for your quick answer Shane.

Each device may play different kind of files.
    Google the device specs.

I said “primarily wireless,” meaning that these devices typically do have both ethernet and wireless connectivity, but most users are in fact using them these days to play video distributed wirelessly from their computers.

Anyway, most of these devices are limited to playback of h.264, which can be a very high quality files. But, as Rafael and both suggest, you should definitely take the time to find out exactly what the maximum bitrate and pixel dimensions are from the manufacturer.

Thanks a lot to both of you

I’m not afraid to say you people are like guardian angels LOL!!

Understood, as you say, H264 can be very high qlt files. Given that this project is only made of still photos fading into one another, I don’t think I’ll lose any significant quality.

    Thanks again.
