Well, it’s been a while since I’ve been on FCP, and I remember now how much like Microsoft Paint the titling interface is. I’ve heard mixed emotions over LiveType. Is there 3rd party stuff I’m overlooking?

A fast, accomodating user interface that gets along well with copy/pasting things from Photoshop layers perhaps? Something that does at least what the Avid title tool can do?

the TITLE 3D that comes bundled with FCP work just fine for me. The plain title tool stinks.

This is a real weak spot for FCP, I can’t find anything quick and efficient for everyday work. Livetype is way to comlex and fiddly for just doing stationary builds over picture (some great animations though). Title 3D has nowhere near the functionality you ask for. Currently I build everything in Photoshop and work on the layers directly in FCP, but it is slow and repetative.

If you find a solution let me know.

You might check out Boris Grafitti. The old version had some problems, but the newer one may be just the thing. It’s very powerful, you can use it inside of FCP and it has external video support. Check it out.

I disagree. LT is great for doing bullet builds. True, you do have to read the manual to understand how it works, though. BTW, it’s MUCH faster than working with Photoshop. Once you get passed the hurdles, you can fly with LT. Check out my book for the lowdown and simple explanations about integrating LT with Title 3D. Note: I never use the “legacy” FCP titlers. That went away in FCP 2. Welcome to the party.
