We are a cable access station finally making the jump from SD to HD, we recently purchased 10 hpx170’s and we are now running into issues in post. We are currently using a fleet of AJ-D230H to both capture and preview the timeline from FCP and AE. Now that we are working with P2 HD we don’t need a capture deck and our current decks wont allow us to preview the HD video. (freezes and only refreshes when you stop playback.) We are looking to go with a card to install in the mac pro’s that will provide HD video and audio outs and we have been looking more towards Blackmagic(and what card?) but is there something better for our needs?

Thank you for any help/solution you can provide!

    Hi Joel,

I guess the kind of displays you’ll be using will determine what kind of cards to get.

For example, if you’re using a HD-SDI monitor, then the US$295 DeckLink SDI card will suffice.

If you need component or HDMI output, then DeckLink Studio is a good bet and you can also get a simultaneous SD output from the dedicated composite, S-video or SDI output.

    regards
