fcp HD device control problem
hi, i just installed OSX.3.9 on my iMac G4, in order to install fcp HD. i had previously been working with fcp 3. the first thing i tried was to capture some footage from my CAM (PD-150). in capture presets it says “firewire missing”, but it gives me this other option of “Desktop Cinema Preview-Main” which has a screen size of somthing like 1090×1820.
when i log and capture using either “none” or the “Desktop Cinema…” preset, i can control my camera through my computer, and i can see the running timecode of the tape on the log and capture window, but the image won’t come up in the window, and it won’t capture the footage. (iMovie works fine).
there’s a warning in the capture preset window that says to check the Final Cut HD website to see if i should use “firewire” or “firewire basic” for my specific camera. but i can’t find any such website. i tried firewire basic as the device control preset as well, but it didn’t make a difference.
when the preset is set to “Desktop Cinema Preview-Main” the entire screen is often times black, and it becomes more of a hassle.
does anyone know what’s going on here?
would it help to strike my hard drive and reinstall everything?
(through the installation process, my version of fcp 3 seems to have been updated and has the same problem)josh
