I am moving some HD programs from Premiere to FCP so I export out of Premiere as QT uncompressed 8 bit 1920 x 1080 25fps and it all plays realtime using a Blackmagic Multibridge Extreme in FCP.

But some of the files created are showing up in FCP as 17 fps and play very jerky. The strange thing is that Premiere says they are 25fps AND so does Compressor which also plays them smoothly so what gives? Has FCP lost the plot?

So on further investigation I see that FCP reports the file has dropped frames – dropped frames?… on a timeline export…? well it was coming out of Premiere CS3 and that program really sucks so my bad….

I used compressor to export the file as its natural QT uncompressed 8 bit 1920 x 1080 25fps and then imported that into FCP and it then reported it as 25fps – yippee… BUT… on playing the file there were momentary freeze frames of .5 secs or so which would confirm to me that it is indeed a Premiere total stuff up… I am so glad I decided to phase out that piece of s**t sofware but how do I get it into FCP?

Couple of ideas. Open the movies in Cinema Tool sand conform them to 25.0 just to make sure the QT header is written properly.

    Recapture.
