FCP format problem – combining 2 formats in one sequence/FPS issue–Help!
Hello:
I began editing one segment of my TV show which was shot in 720P60 [960 X 720] in 23.98 FPS. Then I was given two more segments which were shot in 1080p30 [1280 X 1080] 29.97 fps.
So my sequence was created in 720P60 [960 X 720] in 23.98 FPS. Everything was looking beautiful until I added some of the 29.97 broll footage, and the pans were obviously not smooth due to the frame rate issue between the two kinds of footage.
What can I do to remedy this problem?
Do I make a 720P 60 sequence in 29.97 to deal with the FPS issue…?
And if so, how do I convert all my edits over to a new timeline without having to start all over?
What is the best work around for this problem—I would be very grateful for any advice as I am way into the edit now.

You need to convert the 1080 29.97 to 23.98. Use compressor, and put all the frame settings to High. Convert to 720 while you’re at it.

Do I have to take each individual piece of footage and convert it to 23.98 FPS in compressor?
And then re-edit the show from scratch?
There is no other work around for this problem?
Please let me know because it’s gonna be a long night then.

Yes, you do. FCP does a horrid job, so you need to use compressor. And yes, manually replace. Never mix frame rates in FCP. Best to convert before you edit too.
