  • FCP forces line in level to -12dB?

    Hi all,

I was capturing audio for a documentary from a tape cassette player. The setup is a breeze as I finally found a use for my G5’s line in jack.

However, I noticed that using this capture source, the level bar is grayed out and more importantly, FCP forces the record level all the way to the minimum. With the Audio MIDI Setup app it was easy to see that as soon as I switched back to FCP, the input level jumped back to -12dB and sure enough, I couldn’t get anything above that level.

I ended up ingesting with Soundtrack Pro (which didn’t pose this issue), but for future reference or mere enlightenment, do you know anything about this issue?
