  • FCP fonts issue (using Boris Title 3D)

    Howdy!
I’d like to do titles and supers using Frutiger 75 Black. (This will match the look of client logo and print collateral.) So far, this type face does not show up in FCP even though it’s perfectly available in PhotoShop and InDesign.

Boris Title 3D shows 5 versions of Frutiger available, all condensed, none of what I want. (Listed in my mac’s Font Book are 14 versions of Frutiger actually when I count all its weights, condensed versions and italic.)

I’ve read through a bunch of CreativeCow past threads on font issues and see that fonts have been troublesome for other FCP users. Some posts have said that Font Book is part of the workaround or solution. Another post said I need to remove all the different versions of Frutiger except for the one(s) I want Boris Title 3D to recognize.

I actually did remove all but 3 versions of Frutiger from the font library of my system folder, rebooted, and whadda-you-know, the selection of fonts in Boris Title 3D did not change! It still offered the same set of Condensed Frutiger that I do not want to use.

Is there a secret cache of fonts that FCP draws from separate from the system folder font library? Is there a way to use Font Book to resolve this that you could tell me? Do I do the titles in photoshop and then import them to FCP? (I’d have to learn this one. The titles super on top of live action. Seems like a potentially cumbersome and less than direct solution.)

    Please help.
    Thank you in advance.
