I’m trying to digitize 2 DV tapes but all i’m getting is a “pulsing” signal. The video is playing in slow motion it seems and the audio is pulsing in and out and sounds and looks terrible. At first, I thought it was the heads on the GL1 but I switched to an XL1 and the same thing is happening when I play the tapes back through it. I took the tapes to a miniDV deck and played them back and they worked fine. Any help would be appreciated.

Where were these tapes recorded? On a GL1 or XL1?

That is what happens when you try to play DVCAM-recorded tapes on Canon equipment.

Just try playing this tape on ANY Sony or Panasonic camcorder (even an inexpensive “home video” model will work) or deck and it should play fine.
