  • FCP Exports to 1888×1062

I’m exporting a sequence from FCP 7, Pro Res HQ 1920×1080, which is what the source footage is as well. I’ve done a full render.

When I open that sequence in Quicktime 10, however, it comes up at 1888×1062. Okay, that’s weird, especially that I can’t make it play at 1920×1080. On top of that, however, the sequence skips a few frames at two points. I tried to export using Quicktime Conversion, and that did not help.

Now when I open the sequence in Quicktime 7, it plays down perfectly, 1920×1080, with no skipped frames.

I tried playing it on Quicktime 10 on two separate computers with the same results (1888×1062, skipped frames at the same points).

Not sure what’s going on here.

I’d also like to mention that the only effect in the sequence is one clipped is resized (not the one effected). Not sure where to start looking for solutions on this one.

Don’t sweat it, QT 10 is a work in progress that has numerous issues at this point.

    Cool. I won’t.

Update though: I read up on what’s happening/why 1888×1062 exists, so at least I have an idea.

Now the ‘skipping frames’ I mentioned, it’s not actually skipping, but resizing, more like a quick 102% zoom for a few frames, then back again.

I guess that’s the WIP factor of quicktime 10?

    [Matt Schwab] “1888×1062 exists,”
That’s the display size in QT Player.
Import the file to FC and have a look to the size on the Browser.
