FCP Export Aspect Ratio Woes
I’m using FCP 5 on a Power Mac G5 for an HD project with a 1440X1080 resolution for a video that will be played as a Quicktime off a computer on a 42″ plasma screen. Everything appears to export normally out of Final Cut Pro using the export using Quicktime conversion function, but when I open up the file in Quicktime Player or VLC, it’s showing up scrunched to a 4:3 1280X1080 resolution, even though in the info it says 1440X1080. If I import these exported videos back in to FCP they have the proper 1440×1080 resolution. I’ve looked at it on a Dell 24″ cinematic and a Samsung 19″ 4:3 screen with the same results. I’ve tried exporting using H.264 compression and HDV 1080i60 with no avail. I’ve even tried manually resizing it in the options, but it still shows up scrunched. I can’t do an uncompressed version because the finished product is then well over 100 gigabytes. I have to present this project tomorrow and I’ve been working on just exporting this since Friday. Any advice offered would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
