FCP export alpha?
I’m new to FCP and slowly getting the hang of things.
Not that I know yet why I should need to do, it but I’ve been unable to export a sequence from the timeline that has a working alpha channel.
The TL’s not rendered (if that makes a difference), has transparent areas that show as checkerboard in the canvas, and I’ve tried both the animation (Millions of colours+) and the no compression QT codecs both of which support alpha.
What am I doing wrong here please?

Mine works. In the export settings are you in Millions of Colors +? Are you set to BEST quality? These are the things that trip up most people.

seems you can’t render the clip in the timeline which has an alpha. (I was simply using FCP to speed-up a quicktime with alpha.)
When I didn’t render the timeline, but did the export, my export worked. i.e. I got a new QT with alpha!I trust that information is buried in the manual somewhere …
