FCP Editing Suite
I am putting together for the first time, my very own “full blown” editing suite. Final Cut PRO, Aja Kona 2, and Apple’s XServe Raid are my choices. I am also considering a lease option for this equipment, thinking that at the end of the lease I may want to explore with new “up to date” technology.
Since this is my first time at this, I would like to read recomedations and advices from the forum. Is lease a good alternative for this type of equipment? to be in business, with a good variety of formats (HD, DV, BetaSP) is the Kona2,FCP, Xserve Raid a good combination?
Finally what alternatives you guys recomend to the “very expensive” Xserve Raid.

What format of HD? There are many.
ALternatives? Medea FCR2X is what Walter here uses. Not MUCh cheaper, it also being fibrechannel, but a little cheaper.

Dont forget audio and video monitors, especially consider the expense of HD monitoring.

I have never used it so maybe someone else can say, but the Huge System Raids are FiberChannel and is way cheaper than Medea and XServes
