FCP Edit suite upgrade advice needed
Hello to everyone.
I post this here because professional editors can help me.
I have the following equipment:MAC
G5 Dual 2.7Ghz
20’Apple monitor
4,5Gb RAM
ATI 1800 256mb
1TB External HD Storage
Formac capture box
21’CRT Sony TV
SONY HVR M10U HDV deck
Final Cut Pro,DVD Studio Pro 4,After Effects,MotionPC
2 X Opteron 244
Tyan S2895 mobo
1Gb RAM
GeForce 6600256mb
500GB SATAII
17′ Eizo M1700
Avid Liquid,Maya 7What would be the next upgrade move you would make?
If you were interested to work in this suite what else is important for you to have in?
I’m only talking about projects in DV and HDV format,can’t afford BETA equipment..
My first thought is the Blackmagic Decklink SD card.

I can only speak for the Mac setup.
You have everything you need for a DV/HDV setup. I would not bother upgrading for the moment. You do not need a Blackmagic card unless you are interested in inputting or outputting SDI to a Digibeta deck. If you work totally in DV you have no need for this – it will not make your system faster.
If time is REALLY critical, then you could consider a new Intel Mac Pro, but you will need to change any cards you run in the system, and not all of your plug-ins will work. On the current builds of FCP, you will not see massive speed increases in renders from your current system. This may change with future, Intel optimised updates. Maybe.

i live in Greece(Crete) and i’m trying to set an “attractive” suite for editors,mostly Greek for the moment,who want to combine holidays in the island and the chance to work a project too.Thats why i want to provide all the tools they could ask.Thanks again..
