I have a quad core powermac with 4.5 gb of memory…i’m tring to capture some footage and, after a few seconds, it says the capture stops because of dropped frames. is there any way I can tell fcp to ignore dropped frames and continue capturing? thanks…also, on an unrelated note, i have a blackmagic decklink pro hd pci-e card and when I capture the video is not being previewed on my external monitor (even with it set to monitor on the external)…thanks…

What are you capturing to? You should be capturing to an external array. There’s no info in your Profile, so I’ll assume you’re trying to capture to your main internal drive and that’s a no-no.

In the User Prefs you can tell FCP to ignore Dropped Frames. But if you are really capturing dropped frames, they will be in your video.

Don’t put your head in the sand and ignore the dropped frames warning. Try and discover the real root of your problem. Dropped frames are usually caused by drives that are too slow, clips that are too long or both.

Well technically they wont be in your video, ’cause they’ve been dropped:-)
