December 30, 2006 at 12:51 amWhat block size do these RAIDS have? 128 is optimal, I hear. Can anyone correct me on that?
Have you contacted tech support for both the card and drives?

December 30, 2006 at 1:34 amI have contacted support for the raids and the card…at this point I don’t think it is the raid or the cards because we have tried two different cards and two different raids. I am thinking that it might be the Kona 3 card.

December 30, 2006 at 1:29 pm[Shane Ross] “OK…what slot is the RAID controller card in, and what slot is the Kona card in? And do you have any additional cards in the computer? Typically it is Controller Card in slot 4, Kona in slot 3, and nothing in slot 2. Slot 1 is the graphics card.”
Post everything about your system. OS / QT / Additional hardware –everything….

December 30, 2006 at 1:38 pm[rsk3527] “Now we have also tried switching out the PCI card which didn’t work. I also tried the DVC PRO HD Codec which had no problems capturing. So it is only having a problem capturing uncompressed 1080i both 8 bit and 10 bit.”
then it is not the Kona card – if your Kona can convert to DVCPROHD on the fly it is working correctly – but the drives cannot handle the capture (at least according to this post)
I may have missed this — what card are you using to connect to the array. Have you changed the cables?
have you switched the cards between slot 3 and slot 4?
one last dumb question – how are the drives formated and are you the only user on the array?

December 30, 2006 at 10:55 pmI have now tried a completely different machine with a Kona LHE card and had the same problem.
Our system:
4x 2.5ghz Powere PC G5 (Not Intel)
8 GB DDR2 SDRAM
Mac OS X 10.4.8
FCP 5.1.2 (Just Upgraded)
Currently the Apple PCI card (But did have the atto in the machine with the same problem) in the Fourth Slot
Kona 3 card with K3 Box in the Third SlotGalaxy HDX 16F2 Raid with 6 Terrabytes Currently has about 3 TB filled connected through the PCI. When tested it is putting through 250 mb/s of throughput. I believe the 16 drives were split into 2 sets of 8 but I am not sure because I did not set it up.
Everyone’s help is greatly appreciated.

current version of QT?[rsk3527] ” I believe the 16 drives were split into 2 sets of 8 but I am not sure because I did not set it up.”
Can the roarke backplane can even do 1080 10bit on just 8 drives??… especially if they are 1/2 full.
