FCP Cuts HD 3D

Driven by the gaming industry Samsung recently released a Next Generation 3D computer monitor and it is anticipated that within 10 years this new breed of big screen video monitors will be showing up in households. No 3D glasses are required for the 3D effect with these new monitors.
To think NASA is filming this stuff using 2 cameras orbiting the earth from opposite sides and FCP is creating the 3D imagery of some of this material in HD today is pretty spectacular.

Actually, my new Samsung 56″ DLP TV incorporates this technology. Just waiting for something to play on it.

The current breed require shuttered glasses to view. These folks have software to convert anything to 3d on your type monitor. You just have to feed your monitor from a computer running the software.

According to that the old colored glasses will kill the HD aspect of a 3d movie. You can find lots of 3d movies on dvd but I think they are all SD.
As we are all far too used to, there are 2 different types of 3d viewing being developed with different spin-off versions of each as well. Real-3D is a kind of holograph system and the Samsung uses Stereoscopic 3D.
Glassless 3D is in development for the future.
