  FCP crashing all the time in simple DV project

  For the first time after upgrading to FCP 5 (including updates: 5.02) working on a simple DV CAM project; logging and capturing. FCP keeps crasing on me. No system to when. Trashed the prefs. This never happened under 10.3.8 and FCP 4.5. Should I install Tiger? Is it quick time 7? Anybody got a clue??
