FCP crashes when outputting to BM
Posted by Jan Van den bossche on May 22, 2007 at 9:36 pmhi,
i have a MacPro(3gigProcessor, 4 gig RAM) with FCS1 and multibridge pro and since this morning every file I import into FCP makes the program crash when I press play. My Video Playback settings are set to BM RGB. When I change these settings to Firewire everything is ok again…so I can’t use my video output through my decklink card anymore cause it makes FCP to crash! I installed the 6.2 drivers tonight but it makes no difference.
thank you
Jan

May 23, 2007 at 6:23 amAnd now the MacPro won’t even start up anymore when my multibridge device is connected. When I pull out the power off my multibridge Pro, everything is ok…but now I can’t work with BM anymore, grrr ;o)

May 25, 2007 at 9:13 amDo you have Black Magic Multibride or Black Magic Declink Extreme card?
If Declink Extreme, then they have a very serious bug which they promised to be fixed in 6.2 driver version, but it is still there in 6.2.
The bug is 2 GB RAM limit.
It means that if you want to work with FCP and BM Deck Link you must take out 2 GB of your memory and wait until they’ll fix this bug.
Good luck

May 25, 2007 at 11:19 amhey,
I have a Multibridge Pro system, so… it will be another problem, thanks anyway.
The system preferences on my Macpro recognize the Multibridge, but I can’t get any video in or out via the multibridge. If I use firewire, then everything works perfectly, but I’d like to use the Multibridge of course ;o) -

May 25, 2007 at 12:07 pmStrange.
I also have the same mac as yours and the same card. But everything works fine form me and i even have 6 GB of RAM.
The only difference is that i work with 6.1 drivers.
Try to uninstal 6.2 and go back to 6.1. Maby it helps.

May 29, 2007 at 6:22 pmI have a multi-bridge and the same problems. I tried uninstalling the 6.2 drivers and going back to the 6.1 drivers, and it didn’t help. Maybe it has something to do with firmware?

May 30, 2007 at 6:06 pmhi,
after mailing with the people from BM, we concluded that the Multibridge hardware has to be replaced.

June 1, 2007 at 12:12 amLike, take the PCIe card out and put it back in, or like buying a new Multibridge? Is BM willing to replace the unit free of charge?

June 1, 2007 at 7:10 amwell, they should replace the unit cause you do get a few years guarantee, so I guess it’s normal! They asked me the name of the reseller and they would arrange everything, but I didn’t get any response since tuesday, so I’m waiting… i’ll keep you posted
