This is a new one. I’m editing on a 1920X1080 pro res HQ timeline and trying to add a quick text in FCP as a place holder. When I select the sample text video and drag it to the timeline everything is fine. When I click on the Control tab I get the spinning beach ball of death and FCP shuts down. I’ve tried new timelines with different codec settings and always the same result. So no more simple TEXTs on the fly for me for now I guess. Also, If I render out a clip from Motion on the same timeline the rendered clip turns completely chroma Green after rendering. Been a FCP user since version 2. This is all new to me.

Thanks for your help in advance.

I’ve been having the exact same issue. I’m using a quick text placeholder and as soon as i go to control to change the text I get the ball of death and my final cut crashes.

I deleted my preferences from my system but i still had the same problem. When i copy/pasted my sequence into a new project, i was able to adjust the text in the control menu, but then as soon as i went back to adjust again or create new text, it crashed again with the same problem.

i’m very frustrated and working on a tight deadline. anyone know what could be wrong? something corrupted maybe?

    thanks
