  • FCP crashes mid-way through render

I have FCP HD on a G5 with Tiger (just installed a few weeks ago). I have a 5 minute video clip with lots of tracks (photos, text, video) and filters. Every time I render FCP crashes about 2/3’s of the way through. I have tried shutting everything down, saving the project as a copy, and reducing the resolution of some of the photos. I’ve also tried exporting as a QT movie w/o render and it crashed then too. I have plenty of space on my hard drive (43 GB) plus 2 external drives with 16 GB each. This has never happened before. Please help!

I’d try a couple different things.

    1. Quit FCP. Trash your preferences, delete all your old render files, load up your sequence and try again.

    2. Highlight just one clip that has to be rendered. Apple-R to render just that clip. Save. Repeat til you find the one that’s crashing the program.

    Good luck.

Thank you!! I deleted my preferences and render files and rendered clips one at a time. They all rendered fine. Thanks again!
