  • FCP crashes during render and export

Posted by Amber Miller on December 19, 2010 at 3:58 pm

I seem to be having so many issues with Final Cut lately.

I have a large project I’ve been working on for several months now. There are 17 sequences. They all rendered just fine until I went to nest each of them into a Master Sequence. The master timeline ends up being 1 hour and 13 minutes. Now, none of them will render properly. If just a little segment needs render… it’ll go through the process or rendering and crash or just ADD MORE spots that need rendered.

I trashed prefs and previous render files and put everything in brand new sequences. It’s still doing the same thing. I’ve even tried to directly export to compressor and then it crashes too.

    I have Mac Pro.
    6 gigs Ram
    2 3ghz Quad Core
    Final Cut Pro 6

It is HDV footage that was captured as ProRes422. All my sequence settings are ProRes422 as well.
I need to get this to DVD and not sure what else to do.
    Never had this problem before.

Thanks in Advance for your Suggestions!!

Avoid nesting Amber. Just copy and paste from the original timeline into you new sequence.

Well, I’ve disregarded nesting and put everything in a new fresh timeline. It is still doing the same thing. Other suggestions?

I’ve tried rendering small little parts at a time as well and that doesn’t work either.

It could be that your scratch is nearly full, maybe the project is corrupt. I’ve has the same issue once before.

I created a new Project (not duplicating) and then pasted the clips into the timeline. Hopefully it works out for you.

Creating a brand new project has done the trick! Thank you! It was definitely corrupt somehow.
