  • FCP crashed, now MXO won’t work

Posted by Hunter Stevens on June 22, 2008 at 7:11 am

I was working away in FCP 6 on an 8-core mac with Matrox MXO, when the FCP just crashed, completely closed on me back to the desktop. When I reboot, MXO no longer works. Settings are still all correct for the MXO, I’m working DVC Pro HD 720/24, but it just doesn’t output video or audio. The MXO system preferences monitors temp fine and flickers screen when switching the genlock, just appears that FCP won’t recognize it. I have restarted the mac, the mxo and no luck.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, the thought of spending my Sunday reinstalling FCP for 4 hours or whatever ridiculous time it took when 1st set up is not fun.
    Thanks in advance.

    Try the usual:

    Repair Disk Permissions

    Trash FCP Preferences

Trash MXO Preferences if there are any

Run Disk Warrior if none of that works.

    [gary adcock] “Reinstall the drivers.”

I was going to say that. But I am still recovering from HEAT EXHAUSTION from the two days I worked in the 106 degree heat. Gary, how did you manage? The AJA booth had it worse than we did.

I tried everything on the list, nothing worked until reinstalled FCP. A little scary that I can just be dumped out of FCP for an unknown error and have to reinstall. Thanks for your responses.

    Dude….

its called GLASS BLOWING (my hobby), I am used to working for 8 hrs in 120-150+ temps. I stand 54″ from a 3000 degree opening when reheating the work.

Now the Sun was a different issue- that was what got to me – it was so, so, so bright and all of the UV rays bouncing around my prescription sunglasses(rated 800+ for UV) Days like those really need wrap around lenses that mine did not have.

Good to see you as always too.

I find my MXO – Powerbook – OS 10.4.11 and FCP 5 combination can get a bit finicky when things change. I usually have to restart after changing the codec I’m viewing, for example. I wasn’t clear from reading your post if you checked the View Menu settings after your crash and restart. External Video often resets to off on my set up, and Refreshing video devices sometimes helps me out too.

    David
