FCP Craps out when loading TIFF
Hey there everybody, I’ve got a question. I am editing a video where I’m using screen caps of emails. I have been using SnapZPro and saving them as tiffs. But everytime I load them into the source window, FCP craps out. I’m running 4.5 on 10.3.9 (as of now).
The workaround seems to be upping the dpi to 100, from 72. But why, oh why, would 72 dpi be a problem since that is standard for video? Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Don’t save as TIFFs, try PNGs.

Isnt PSD the better ones to use?

There’s no reason to use a PSD if you have no layers.

I tried the PNG and that didn’t work either. I wonder if it could be Snapz? Like I said, when I bump up to 100 dpi, everything’s fine. It’s so weird.

Make sure your image is RGB.

I’ve done that many times (left it as CMYK). It won’t even import if that’s the case. Here’s what’s strange. Last time this happened, I bumped the files up from 72 dpi to 100 dpi and it worked. This time, it didn’t work until I dropped it to 40 dpi, which, of course, isn’t good enough for what I need to do.
We are going to try adding RAM to see if that works. I’ll keep everyone posted.

I may be misreading this, but you do understand that it MUST be RGB?
CMYK is a print format, and doesn’t translate into video.

I was saying I’ve made that mistake before. This time, though, it is RGB. 100 dpi.

Oh, ok…so I did read it wrong!!
Wish I had an answer for you. It sounds like it should work with no issues.
