    Hello,
Just rented a panasonic DVCPOHD deck and want to dump footage into my G5/Medea RAID.

We do alot of DVCPRO50, but this is the first HD. Sucessfully dumped a little footage from HD camer via Firewire into system using DVCPRO HD codec.

Now I’m running the HD deck to the KONA3 via SDI and can see and control the deck in FCP.
Problem occurs when I try to digitize. Using Pro res or Pro Res HQ I get dropped frames. In Kona3 DVCPro HD I get a error saying “attempting to capture video without video device selected” . . . . I know I’m overlooking something . . but I’ve been going round and round and was wondering if anyone would share their exact settings.

    thanks

I’m running FCP Studio 2 with a Kona 3 and am getting dropped frames on any clip over 2 seconds.

The deck is a Sony J-H3. I’m thinking the problem might be that I don’t have triple sync running between the two.

Setting the reference to either Video In or Free run has no effect.

I’ve tried Kona 1080i 10-bit and the Kona 1080i Pro Res — same problem.

    You are not alone.

    Thanks guys,

Yeah Jeremy, I knew that and my G5 is up to it. Even if i can’t make the ProRes work, the DVCPRO HD should work through the KONA 3. Should it not ?

You don’t need sync for capture — Genlock in the control panel should be set for Video In.

What type of drives are you capturing to?

Yes. If you can’t capture DVCPro HD then you have a throughput problem with your drives. Even a FW400 drive can capture / playback DVCPro HD.
