Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy FCP Clip Names

I have a bunch of clips in several sequences that are using the original filename of the movie clip rather than my logging data in the browser. I suspect the editor was digging through the clips and using them before everything was completely logged.

Is there a quick way I can force sequences to update these names based on names in the browser rather than sticking with the filename?

My current method of fixing these issues is putting the clip in the viewer and scrubbing the clip to find the slate. Then going into the browser and replacing the clip based on the in/out points. It’s just tedious…. I was hoping I could find some automation to do this form me.

    Thanks
    Eric

Highlight the clip or clips in the browser window.
Right click and towards the bottom there is an option to rename.
Go to that and then choose File to match clip.

if the clip is not in the browser,
park on the clip in the timeline, hit Shift F,
FCP will ask if you want a new master cli.
    Yes you do.

now you can Modify > Clip Name to match File Name
via modify menu, or by right clicking on the browser clip.
