When I capture, there are usually numerous timecode breaks that last for about 5 seconds each. I know it’s not the way they were recorded since the counter does not reset nor does the cameraman start a new clip.

FCP pro either tries to locate a timecode break or tells me that there is a problem with the tape, but this has happened with numerous tapes recorded from the same camera (other tapes recorded with a different, consumer camera have no problems). There are no problems when capturing from the original camera that recorded the tapes, but my problem is that I telecommute and I have to use the PD-100a.

I’ve tried using a tape head cleaner – the only one I could find in my area, and it doesn’t seem to make a difference. Capture Now doesn’t change things either, nor capturing with an uncontrolled source.

I know I’ve had a problem with footage recorded from PD-100 that I tried to capture with a consumer camera because of a way the PD-100 captures with more quality but less compatibility, but that problem was so bad that the consumer camera could only capture 1 frame at a time. I was wondering if the problem I’m having is similar and what I could do about it. I tried looking at the FX1’s manual and could not find any settings I could change.

Thank you for your time and help.
