Hi. I shot HDV footage using the Sony V1U (24pA). I have the latest version of Final Cut (6.0.5) and I’m using a different Sony HDV camcorder to digitize the footage. The problem is the device is not recognized by Final Cut. I changed the settings to Apple ProRes 422 using Sony Firewire but it doesn’t allow or even recognize the camera.

Is it possible that I need to use the same camera I shot with (V1U) to digitize the footage?

    Please help…

    Joe

Danger, Will Robinson! Messing with the settings if you don’t understand exactly what you’re doing will usually end in unexpected and unwanted results. (Apologies of course if you do understand exactly what you’re doing!)

Your best bet is just to go to your Easy Setups and choose: HDV-Apple ProRes 422 1080p24

    See if that helps
