    Hello,

I’m running FCP on a MacBook Pro with 500GB external hard drive connected via firewire. When I capture now, it works fine. When I batch capture the audio is exactly one second / 25 frames out. The audio is running ahead of the video. All my settings appear to be correct. I’m getting ready to throw this machine out of the window. Please help.

Also, a new problem developed today. The My Book keeps disconnecting itself when I try to start using FCP…

    Thanks

The My Book drive is pretty low end… I’ll wager the FW connector is going south. Seen this before with those drives. Make sure that the cable is seated well, and might try another cable too.. If it were me, I’d buy an enclosure from wiebetech.com and put the drive from the WD book in it. Better enclosure, even faster maybe, but has rock solid fw ports.

The other problem may be related to the My Book too. Is it formatted Mac OS extended? if not that could be the problem.

You also might might have corrupt preferences. Trash them from User/library/preferences/FCP user data… there are three files there. Trash them and then restart FCP.

If the above fails to fix, you have an installation problem maybe… and a clean install will likely fix that.
