We are in process of upgrading 2 FCP edit suites to FCP 5. We want to take advantage of the new feature allowing an audio control surface for audio mixing. (I used to edit on an Avid DS with a JLCooper board and loved it!) So the big question is what is everyone using and are you happy with it? I’m looking at all brands and price ranges at this point.

    Behringer BCF2000
    Yamaha 01X
Tascam US 428 and the FW 1082
    Edirol UR80
    Mackie MCU
JLCooper CS-32 (Does this one work with FCP?)
    Any others out there?

Pros/Cons — Pitfalls and Advice are welcome!

We will use these for control surfaces only. Both suites already have mixers installed for monitoring only. Both suites will have G5 and XServed Raid and the AJA I/O. So does this mean I will have to go with a USB controller since the AJA ties up the firewire bus. (I could add a FW card?) How much delay or latency is there in the USB control surfaces? By that I mean how much lag time from the time you manualy move the fader bar until the software responds and keyframes the fader action.

    Thanks All!
