    Hello all,

I’m using the Final Cut Pro Studio 2 at my job along with my Panasonic 24p camera, and I’m having problems. I read the manuals, and have checked the forums, and no one seems to have my direct problems. I’m an avid guy, trying to get use to the FCP. I recorded in 24p, and used Free Run timecode so I can match the “A” camera.

I connected my camera just fine, see video and hear audio. I’m getting a little annoyed knowing that if I want to keep my timecode I have to set an “in” point, then fast forward to my “out” point just to capture. I know I can use the Capture Now feature, but I won’t be able to use timecode. But my problem is, after I hit the “clip” key to capture the clip, the computer doesn’t take my camera back to the “in” point, its always off by a minute and some frames. So I have to press “escape” then manually rewind it a couple of seconds before the “in” point to get it started. Can anyone help with this?

My second problem is that after I set an “in” and an “out” point )b/c I’m recording an intview that I want the clip Id’s to be the same at least for this interview) the capture always records after the “out” point. Now as I said earlier, since I used Free Run timecode, I know that I’m going to have timecode breaks, but I at least want to clip Id to be the same so I set an “in” and an “out” for the entire interview, but the computer always records after the “out” point and then would just stop in the middle of a clip. Can anyone help?

My last problem is that everything is telling me to hit “escape” to stop the capture, and after I do that, its aborting the clips it captured previously? Any reason as to why?

I’m new to the FCP world, and I did my best to find some answers, hope you can help.

    Settings
Make New Clip after time code breaks,
Abort clip after dropped frame, not selected
    1.2 TB of internal space
    (can’t remember the rest)

Ok, so I found a work-around for the capture clip feature. After I set an “in” point and an “out” point, I select “clip,” and as the camera is rewinding back to the “in” point after it shuffles to find the “in” point, I forced it to rewind back it to the actual “in” point by holding the rewind button on my camera. So I guess I have to do this everytime? Wow.
