FCP and image files (PNG and TIFF)
I am having trouble with images in final cut pro. I exported a screen shoot from some HDV footage … it comes out 1440 x 1080. Put it in my image editor (gimp in this case, but get same results from Photoshop). I resized it to 1920 x 1080, used it to make a matte (need to get cover up something in my image) … when I re-import it to FCP the matte doesn’t fit quite right (its perfect in my image editor). (BTW: The image has transparent sections in it.) What’s going on? It isn’t that the image has to be 1440 x 1080 …. you need to resize it to 1920 x 1080 … the matte is off just slightly … five percent say … I could fiddle with it to get it to fit, but it seems that this process should work with out “hand” adjustments.

probably should have just left it alone.
if you want to, open it into the viewer from the timeline.
go to the motion tab,
and find the distortion settings.aspect maybe able to be adjusted.
try +/-6.67
or try adding/subtracting 6.67 from whatever it is.nick

Put some colored pixels in the four corners of the picture.
The picture will fit in the screen when imported to FC.
