  • FCP and AXP on same system?

I am an Avid Express user that is completely fed up. I want to make the switch from AXP to FCP but I really don’t have a lot of down time in my upcoming production schedule. Is it possible to have both on my Mac so I can learn FCP while still working on AXP? Will there be any internal conflicts to prevent this?

I’ve heard of other people having them both on their computers without problems. You might not want to run them simultaneously. Though I’ve run FCE, FCP and Premiere at the same time, or at least had them all open at the same time without problem.

    All the best,

I would recommend making a separate boot drive for each.

I’m using AXP5.8–which I understand is the latest and last. But AXP will not run on QT 7.4 it has to run on 7.3. Will the latest version of FCP run on 7.3? I obviously can upgrade once I purge my system of AXP, but that would be a few months down the road.
