FCP Alpha Channel confusion?
Hi Folks, this is a subject that i can see from previous post has been doing the rounds, but as yet I haven’t been able to answer my query.
Heres the thing.
A client has given me a test.mov, filmed on Blue Screen in a professional studio.
I’ve Been asked to key out the Background to a very high level of detail.
this I have achieved using various key filters.
I have then exported the file using the Animation codec + Millions+
I’ve then downloaded the trial of AE so that i can test the alpha .
So far i’ve done this 10 time, purely by fluke it worked the 3rd time, but i have failed to duplicate this result?
I am a total newb on AE this being thee 1st time i have used it.
any help would be much appreciated.

You don’t need AE to test it…
Export it out of FCP either via Compressor or QuickTime Conversion, and pick either the Animation Codec or the ProRes 4444 codec (make sure you add the alpha channel)…
And then import the QuickTime back into FCP (or into motion for that matter!)

(older but still good) Marquee, Media Composer (3.5) and Basic/Advanced Color DVDs (1.0) from Vasst.com

I’ve Figured out the issue now…..
I MUST NOT RENDER IT!
took me ages, and thats the issue! grrrr
