  • FCP & AJA IoHD & Sonnet 8 TB — Audio issues

We have two of these systems running 6.0.2 and have had audio sync problems thru out. The footage is DVCAM SD NTSC and is ingested via SDI with audio coming in thru the SDI, but we have also tried analog audio. We have gone completely analog with beta SP footage also. Sometimes there is pretty good sync and sometimes it just drifts further out. My system had the additional problem of audio completely being cut out. The meters (in FC) would register but nothing out of the speakers.
This would happen 5-10 times a day and I would shut down Mac and AJA, when they came back up audio is there but still there were sync issues. AJA support was very good and have since replaced the IoHD. Once installed it worked nicely with sync, but now sync issues have surfaced again and I don’t get video playback to my confidence monitor, which is a new issue altogether. When I capture video it plays in the confidence monitor, but once digitized I only see the default video output which is a test pattern.
We had professional installation, but I think these systems are so new that there may be a shortage of expertise with the set up. I am not sure where to start…User error, the AJA, FC or the Sonnet drives.
So I guess I am just reaching for answers or clues. If there are hundreds of these systems out there that are working flawlessly then we are doing something seriously wrong. If others are having issue I’d like to know and hear of possible solutions.
BTW I read ….leopard latency & the IoHD… by e. eric Johnson Jan 22 ……We only have two channels of audio are on 10.4.11 and a Mac Pro. We tried the rapid scrubbing with footage that seemed in sync and that definitely put it further out of sync.
    Thanks for any input.
