  FCP 7.1 surround with Intensity Shuttle

  I am using thunderbolt version of Intensity Shuttle for my edit projects. I use it to preview my picture thru my projector and monitoring my 6 channel 5.1 surround from my timeline.
  Everything works perfectly, I setup my FCP project with 8 mono channels, using the first 6 channels for the 5.1 surround. I simply plug the hdmi to my Onkyo TX-NR 5009 amplifier and set it to
  ‘multich”. I can correctly monitor the 5.1 sound thru my home theatre.
  But as I know Onkyo TX-NR 5009 can support up to 8 channels (7.1) PCM audio and intensity shuttle also support 8 channels of PCM audio thru hdmi. So I also assign the audio tracks to channel7 and channel8 for a test. But nothing seems to be working, no sound from ch7 and ch8..and my Onkyo amplifier also showing just 6 pcm audio channels in use.
  Anything wrong with my setup, or FCP just limit the audio channels to 6 only?
